Be Still and Know That I Am God
March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7
The Discipline of Lent (self-examination and repentance, prayer and fasting, sacrificial giving and works of love) calls us to contend against evil and resist whatever leads us away from love of God and neighbor. As we are in the midst of this struggle to which we have committed ourselves, it becomes clear how formidable our opponent is, and we can begin to feel helpless at times. Into the midst of our struggle, our Lord speaks to us the words of Psalm 46, “be still and know I am God.” We are not alone, but, strengthened by the gifts of Word and Sacrament, our Lord fights by our side.
