Trinity offers Sunday morning Christian education for all ages.  In addition to Sunday School for youth, Trinity offers an Adult Education Class at 9:15 am in Trinity’s Chapel.  Led by Pastor Mark, this class studies various topics, often in continuing block segments over a series of weeks. Studies may include timely topics of Christianity, historical deep-dives into the “why” behind our faith and worship, or exploring our spiritual practice and relationship with Christ. Additional materials may be available for purchase with specified classes.

Current Curriculum:

We live in a very pluralistic world. Our neighbors represent different cultures, politics, ethnicity, as well as theology. How do we live well with each other? One helpful way to begin is to understand first who we are and then who our neighbors are. Over the next few months we will be looking at several different religions and faiths of our neighbors, including Islam and Latter-day Saints. As we look at these religions and faiths that are different  from ours, we will begin by first looking at our own faith.

Making Sense of the Christian Faith

Sundays, April 8 – May 27
9:30 am Chapel Pastor Mark

We will look to David Lose, former president of Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and current senior pastor of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis to lead us. Using his book, Making Sense of the Christian Faith, we will explore the major theological doctrines of the Christian faith. His book is written as a conversation that invites us to “jump into” the conversation as the text stimulates our thinking instead of attempting to persuade a particular point of view.

The session titles:
Chapter 1: God Talk: Theology
Chapter 2: Original Blessing: Creation
Chapter 3: Missing the Mark: Sin
Chapter 4: East of Eden: Covenant, Law, and Community
Chapter 5: God con Carne: Incarnation
Chapter 6: Life Wins: Atonement
Chapter 7: The Body of Christ: Church and Holy Spirit
Chapter 8: The End of All Things: Eschatology

Adult Education opportunities are also available during the week:

WEDNESDAY MID-WEEK ADULT EDUCATION   Led by Pastor Mark, this is an opportunity to grow deeper in our Christian faith which ultimately informs how we live in community.  Studies include delving deeper into a particular Book of the Bible, tracing a theme through Scriptures, using aspects of our faith (10 Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Creed) as spiritual practice, reading and discussing works of current faith leaders.

MEN’S BREAKFAST BIBLE STUDY   Meeting every Thursday at 7 a.m., men take turns cooking breakfast for the group.  Pastor Mark leads a study of the scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday morning worship. It’s good breakfast, good fellowship, and good discussion.

FAITH AND ISSUES DISCUSSION GROUP   Meeting every Thursday morning from 9:15-11:15 a.m. at Frasier Meadows in the Mountain Vista Room. The Faith and Issues Discussion Group discusses a wide range of current topics from a faith perspective, including many current events.

AFTERNOON CIRCLE  Women of Trinity meet the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the conference room for bible study.
