Within the church’s vocabulary, a “household” includes the people living under one roof, whether single or multiple dwellers.
We believe that Trinity’s faith community is at its best and most faithful when all ages are gathered around the cross and journeying together. Faith, in many ways, is also caught and not just taught, and best caught through meaningful engagement of children, youth, young adults, adults and elders into the planning, life and witness of our congregation. This means that we create situations that encourage the intentional working, playing, talking and worshiping along side one another both in and away from church, and the building of sustainable, trusted, authentic relationships through meaningful conversation, shared rituals and traditions.
Trinity offers resources to help households work on faith development at home or on the go: Milestones Ministry and Taking Faith Home.
A milestone is a meaningful, memorable moment in the lives of individuals and communities.
Milestones Ministry provides a faith milestone as a marker along life’s journey that says, “This is something important, and God is here, too.” It is a faith formation practice for both home and congregation that helps all generations recognize God’s presence in everyday life. It lifts up the home as a primary setting to be the church in the world; it allows people to experience the faith so it may be caught in daily life occasions; and it honors the role of adults in the Christian formation of children and youth. Examples of Milestones Ministry include:
- Anniversary of baptism
- Entering middle school
- Getting a drivers license
- High school graduation
- Caring for aging parents
- Moving into a new home
- Becoming grandparents
- Loss of a loved one
Taking Faith Home
In addition, Trinity provides Taking Faith Home, a daily resource for households to use in their homes that is meant to connect the faith formation that happens at Trinity with the faith formation happening in members’ homes.
There are many wonderful options in Taking Faith Home to grow your faith as a household, so please use as much or as little as you need while at home and when you’re away.
