Trinity Horizon... the Next 5 Years

Goals of the Process:
•   Attain a common definition and understanding of Trinity's mission statement.
•   Take a broader look at Trinity's present and future, to confirm and establish specific activities supporting the mission.
•   Nurture and grow the interest and enthusiasm of the congregation by collectively setting the future of Trinity.
•   Establish and strengthen the link between stewardship and Trinity activities and facility requirements.

Timeline for the initial stages:

February - April
•    Identify discernment activities to seek God's guidance.
•    Achieve common definition and understanding of Mission Statement.
•    Appoint steering group to help lead us through this process.

** Progress Update: We thank you for your participation in the discernment sessions to attain a common definition and understanding of Trinity's mission statement. The findings are:

  • strong consensus on identity
  • God's presence clearly felt at Trinity
  • acceptance to improve the mission statement but not change meaning
  • "outpost" was the word that presented the most variance of understanding
  • seek suggestions from congregation o replacement word for "outpost"

During the month of May, if you would like to make a suggestion for a replacement word for "outpost" you may use the back of your Sunday morning worship card.

May - June
•    Inventory and communicate current activities and initiatives of Trinity.

** Progress Update: The second phase of the Trinity Horizons discernment process is to inventory and celebrate all the activities that Trinity and its members are involved with that reflect and express our understanding of our mission in Christ. As his hands for the world, we are involved in many activities both as a congregation and as individuals that reflect his love for others. Some of thiese are easy to identify - Casas, Attention Homes, feeding the hungry; but many of us are involved in ways that are not so obvious, such as mentoring, building for Habitat, volunteering at the Homeless Shelter or for other charities. Those things that you believe in and are passionate about that can inform this discernment process.

July - September
•    Identify new needs and activities to support and strengthen the Mission.

October - December
•    Council retreat to review, prioritize findings, and gather resources.

January, 2010
•    Present for review and approval of direction at the congregation annual meeting.
